Window Wanderland Crafting at the Forum

March 11 - March 12

Create a coloured ‘window’ to take home.

Join the team from the Elizabethan Window Wanderland event for some free crafting sessions, and make a ‘window’ to put in your own home. All materials are provided and this is a great way for families to get artistic together.

Perhaps you’ll take inspiration from the enormous mural on the balcony level in the Forum’s Atrium, which includes artwork made by local young people and community groups.

The Elizabethan Window Wanderland event celebrates the story of Elizabeth 1’s visit to Norwich in 1578 and the legacy of the ‘Strangers.

This was the name given to master weavers from the low countries, who were invited to settle in Norwich by the Queen, and who regenerated the city’s textile industry in the 16th century.

In the centre of the Atrium, on the ground floor, you can find out much more about this momentous moment in Norwich history, in a textile display by the Costume and Textile Association.

You will find colourful illustrations in windows in the Cathedral Quarter from 24 Feb – 19 Mar – part of a project called Putting on a Progress 1578: Elizabethan Window Wanderland, organised by Curious Spark.
